4. Deployment of Solar Energy in Indian Railways, UNDP (2018)
IIEC-India partnered with UNDP, DfID and the Indian Railways (IR) to assist in large scale deployment of solar energy in Indian Railways under their Solar Mission. IIEC mapped over 50 potential international partners ranging from technology providers through service providers to financing institutions which could potentially help Indian Railways achieve its targets. This was done through extensive stakeholder engagement and discussions. This helped in forging relationships with key players for entering into long term partnerships with Indian Railways for solarising railways. Additionally, IIEC suggested entry points for IR through which more leads and state-of-art work could be done. Ultimately for the deployment of the project, we developed innovative financing mechanisms as well as technological options that could be explored for these partnerships.
5. CSR Program for Clean Energy Access in Pauri Garwal District, Uttarakhand – Phase 1 (2018) with Syneos Health
IIEC successfully implemented an on-ground program for improved health services for socio-economic development in selected villages in Uttarakhand. The focus was on providing solar electricity to Primary Health Clinics so that they are able to function more effectively and provide better care facilities for the local communities. The availability of 24x7 electricity in the Primary Health Clinics also ensured availability of resources to store necessary and life-saving medicines which was missing earlier. Through this initiative, IIEC has been able to mobilise the support of local communities and doctors and help build a sense of ownership amongst the villagers for this project. The local villagers and doctors in charge were trained for the day-to-day maintenance of the lighting system. Along with this, the project and equipment was official transferred to the Gram Panchayats and the doctors-in-charge, again an example of building a sense of ownership for the local community.
